Hi everyone. I went live with my website today. The address is www.mikecornettphoto.com. Please check it out and tell me what u think about it.
Hi everyone. Helaina is doing very well. She was just seen by the dr and they progressed her feeds to three a shift. She is one feed away from full feeds. The dr said that her feeding is the only thing holding her back from going home. We will see how fast she progresses with the feeds. We are hoping we get her home by the first of the year if nit sooner.

Update on Helaina

Hi everyone. I know I have been lacking over the last week or so and have not put an update on the blog about Helaina. She is still doing well in the NICU of UCI. She has been going up on her feeds and she is at 44cc right now. She is taking every third feed by nipple (bottle) and is doing well with her bottle. I actually got to feed her the last two bottle's she took. She has gained a lot of weight. She is about 5 pounds 4 ounces now; we call her our little heffer. She is looking very cute and making lots of noise now. I even got to give her a bath about a week ago. This was a lot of fun for me. The only set back she might have is her eyes. She has ROP, which is a disease where the blood vessels in the eyes that run from the retina to the front of her eyes aren't growing correctly. She has another eye exam this week to see if they started growing correctly or if they are getting worse. If they are getting worse than she might require a surgery to stop them from growing. This will help keep her retina entacted, but it will cause the parts of her eyes that don't have veins to not be able to see. We are hoping and praying this doesn't happen. We would appreciate all of the prayers from around the world so maybe her eyes could get better. I will keep everyone updated on this and post a little later on in the week. Thanks again for all of the love and support and I hope you like the pictures that are attached from the past two weeks.

Tracy & Family

So this weekend I got to shoot a wonderful mother and her three children. Tracy and her three children wanted to update their pictures with me so we went to a park close by in the Inland Empire area. It was a gloomy and cold day but the sky made for some awesome pictures, as you can see from the following few. It was an honor and a pleasure shooting such a beautiful family.

Ismael and Jeanette's Engagement Session

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Ismael and Jeanette at Southcoast Winery in Temecula. They are a very beautiful couple and the pictures showed how much in love they are. Here are just a few of the awesome images captured on a perfect day.

Helaina with her aunt and uncle

Over the past three days Helaina has been making such improvements. She is at the lowest setting she can have on her oxygen, and she has started to eat from a bottle. Last night she was able to take an entire bottle with the help of the O.T. specialist. On Monday night Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Ryan came up to visit. Helaina was very happy to be held by them. Here are some updated pics.

Yesterday Helaina was taken off of the CPAP machine and put on just oxygen through her nose. She is doing so well that she was moved from her isolet to a crib. She is possibly going to start her feedings from a bottle very soon. She is our little angel and is now in her big girl crib, hopefully getting ready to join us at our house.

so this weekend Heather and I went to visit Helaina at UCI. She is doing so well. She is still on CPAP but is almost at room air with her Oxygen. I was able to do Kangaroo Care this weekend with her for about 1.5 hours. This is where I get to hold her skin to skin. This help with her development and it is good bonding time. I got to hold her a second time this morning for another 1.5 hours. This was absolutely wonderful. Heather also got to hold her for about 1.5 hours last night as well. This was just so much fun for the both of us. What a way to spend two days off. Here are just a few images that Heather captured of me and my daughter.

Saturday, November 7, 2009

hi everyone. Helaina is still doing absolutely wonderful in her new temporary home at UCI NICU. She is gaining weight and is up to 4 pounds now. She has no more IV's in her and is taking everything through her NG tube. She is still on the CPAP machine, the little thing in her nose that looks like she is a scuba diver, to help with her oxygen, but I would guess that will come out soon. Heather spent all day yesterday with her and got to hold her and comfort her for over one hour. It is so wonderful to have my lovely wife get to hold my beautiful daughter. I will be heading up there on Sunday and Monday and I will get to hold her for the second time ever. I am looking forward to it. Thanks again for all the support and prayers from everyone.

Helaina was moved today from san Diego to UC Irvine NICU. She is doing wonderful here. She is settling into her new home but heather, myself and helaina miss her old nurses, Amy, Joann and Tabitha. We are so happy and thankful for the nurses and staff at childrens hospital in san Diego for getting helaina over her hump and at the point she is at. We can't wait to bring her back to visit all of her nurses. I will keep everyone updated on her status. She is progressing well.

helaina being held

Today we got to hold Helaina for the second time. Yesterday we held her for the first time but today was so special as well. Heather got to hold her today and I was able to capture some great images of my two girls resting comfortably. Here are just a few of the awesome images. The tubes in Helaina's nose are to help with her oxygen and pressure. She should only have this one in for about two days or so.

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Hi everyone. Helaina is doing well. She is on her conventional ventilator and working well at it. She is on antibiotics for a slight infection right now. This is normal to have infections while intebated so we are not worried about this. She is up to 10 ml of formula every three hours and is digesting it just fine. They are hoping to get her extibated in a few days. We will keep everyone updated. Thx again for all of the support.

Ambar & Mikes Wedding

I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding on 10-23-09 at Faulkner Winery with my buddy Justin from Hulse Photography. This was an amazing wedding with a beautiful couple, Ambar and Mike. There was a beautiful sunset during the ceremony which made the wedding even more special. Here are just a few of the wonderful images that were caught on this beautiful fall day.
